Brian, a long time member of the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters, has been writing and per-forming his original songs for over 30 years.
His music is best described as coming within that broad based genre most commonly known as “Americana”. Indeed he has been credited with single handedly establishinga sub-genre that could be called “Scotiana”.
Brian McDade,
Internationally Acclaimed,
Scottish Born Composer and Singer/Songwriter
The publication of "The Guitar Clown" stories and songs for children and novice guitarists, in some measure, demonstrates Brian’s gratitude for the gifts of music and song that have enriched his life. It's his way of passing it on.
"I write songs and stories about people, places, peace, war, justice, injustice, love, beer, good things, bad things, spiritual things, steel men and stevedores, cars, roads, ...vaudeville and circus clowns... In my songs I try to get a story across and make pictures in people's heads.
I'm telling stories not just selling a groove"
His talents as a writer and musician have led him to perform and record extensively in his own right as a solo artist as well as supporting and sharing the stage with many other well known musicians both in the USA and throughout the UK.
From Los Angeles to Nashville and to New York... and from London to his native town of Coatbridge in Scotland, Brian’s songs and music are always enthusiastically received by discerning and appreciative audiences
